There are many ways you can create iconic features in a film to create an effect that puts you in the mind frame of who people are and their status. clothing is a one of these areas taking up a main part. i am going to talk about clothing for males and female and what is usually seen in a film noir
Males
to begin with, usually male characters wear business suits which are black and white. It would seem that the only way that a man's social status could be told was in the cut of that suit or whether the shirt was grimy. this classic style was usually warn by gangsters with a classy hat which showed that they had the money and power to do what they wish.
in our film i hope to find that we use the business suit style to fit in with the storyline. this would make him look wealthy however the roughness and scruffiness of the suit would show that he is not looked after and has changed from what he had been. also it would show that he has a profession which is a detective. i hat is also an item i would like to contain as it would top of the suit and made him look more like a detective.
