film noir - audience analyses

to begin with i have used excel to create graphs and pie charts to back up what the audience have written within the questionnaires.

as you can see a majority of the people i have asked to fill in my questionnaire are 15-20 year old as i asked them at our school while i also asked parents and grand parents. Not only this but i asked a larger amount of men than ladies. this could have had a different effect if it was balanced. i also asked people that lived in Peterborough, Huntingdon and Sawtry meaning that they are roughly from the same region.

as you can see from this a large majority of the people are white British and only one black British. this may also have a change if i asked an even amount.

getting into the real questions. i asked them would you typically watch film noir films. a majority of the people, 9 out of 10 said they don't. this maybe due to asking a more younger population who are into HD colour films. the two people who said the typically watch noir films was my grandparents. they can relate to the film noirs as they were around from that time period and know what everything is and enjoy detective work.

however people may not watch them typically but more people at a younger age do enjoy Film noirs. this was reverse to typically watching them from 9 not watching them to 9 like watching them.

from this you can see that more people prefer the old conventional noir films which is equal to people not liking them at all with new modern film noirs.

from this you can see what people like as a sub genre. i have looked at this and it shows that a majority like a comedy however i don't believe it would work well with a film noir.

when asking about what type of film noir they have watched, people struggled to put one down as they are very old and passes there mind. this is because film noirs are not as popular as they used to be. from these results they have shown me that a majority of people like film noirs however they do not typically watch them. i have asked a more younger population on their opinion as they are my main target audience trying to bring back the popularity of film noirs. also girls enjoy the love part of films so we have partially decided that the conflict will be over a women who is very attractive, bringing in romance and love. also a majority of boys prefer a bit of violence and crime so this would be the conflict in the film and would cause a detective to be involved.
