i was previously working by my self as i had missed a lesson were groups had made the final decision, however, michael and will allowed me to be in their group and began to make ideas with michael. together we are working well however, didn't stay in contact over the february period.
me and michael began to think about the conventions of a noir film and how we could add it all in footage to make it as entertaining and dramatic as possible. through our first lesson together. we concluded our main idea with afew minor tweeks, but seemed to have worked.
i have now taken home the script and adding in the final actions and character directions so that the visual image will be finished. as our idea is all voice over, michael, when returning to school will go over the work and add in the voice over.
we have also collected some propps which are found in the given period of the 50s such as the type writer being the main propp and a radio which will trigger the voice over.

similar products - opening scene & analyses
i am going to write about opening scenes and analyse the plot behind it all.
as you can see this is the opening seen of a touch of evil. From this plot you can see that a mysterious man has planted a bomb in the boot of a old classic car in the streets of a urban area. this car is then driven away leaving a suspense of when the bomb will explode and who will get injured. this suspense draws the audience in by making them keep an eye on that car. this very long shot goes onto following pedestrians which are further found to be a detective. this then involves him into the story when the bomb goes of not far from them. Then the shot ends leaving a mystery behind who had done this and why.
this is pt. 1 of the naked naked kiss. from the opening scene you see an attractive women beating a man. you dont not know the reason, leaving enigma code to think of why she is doing this. then she takes only a segment of a large amount of money he has. this leaves further suspicion that she is not there to take his money maybe just for the previlege of being with her. i believe from the opening that she is a prostitute. however the thing that makes me want to know is why he has pictures of around 10 women on his wall, one being that women. i thing i like is that the credits role while she prepares her self for the night ahead. this is a good way to go through all the people within the production while the video is still roling. then she begins to walk out of the room. that is just the opening scene i have analysed as the rest goes deeper into the film.
tthis is the opening scene of Brute force. i enjoy how they have put the setting behind the credit sequence so that you know what the location is being a high secure prison. it then sets the scene with the actors being put into their cells going through the register so you get to know who the main characters are. it also makes you think why are they in prison and how the old man died. it shows that the main characters have a relationship and stick together within the cell. also when the old man is driven out of the prison in the coffin, it shows how high the security is making no way out. also there is a conflict between a prisoner and the warden.

similar products - film noir
I am going to analyse three noir films and pick out parts which i believe would go well in my film.
i have analysed this video and i believe that there ae key conventions which i have to add into my production. to begin with, the film would have to be in black and white so that it fits in to all noir films.
the male characters would have to wear suits to look like real men but not only this the hero must look attractive and have morals. all characters would smoke as in the past, smoking was thought of as cool and attractive and also was heavily advertised. the female would have to be also very attractive and the middle of the story line driving the conflict. as you can see from this video, the men are fighting over the women through jelousy and this is a reason which i want to add into my film. not only this but the women would have to dress glamerous to look spoilt and rich. i would use shadows to make it look eary and that they are sneaking up on something.
this is a modern version of a noir film but have got confussed with the use of propps. in this video they use technology such as cash machines and the internet which was not invented 50 years ago at this level. however, i want to try and get the accent american style as english is not conventional. also the inspector is a convention as it shows the good trying to solve crimes and problems which is usually the drive of the narrative involving murder and gangs. not only this but i will try and base the film within a city to symbolize a maze full of crime.
this last video basically just sums up what a have said i would like to include within my film. these are:
- black and white
- men wearing suits
-smoking is thought of as cool
-gambling and crime
all the villains will care about is money and how they looked upon such as looking powerful, while others will show morals such as caring to show that they are good driving a conflict between the two.
now i am going to move onto analysing noir posters.
from this poster you can see that the main focus is the middle man. who looks very attract holding a cigarette and in a suit. the back ground is black that suggests he is surrounded by evil and cime which always evolves round him. also the man holding the gun implicates he wants to cause harm to others especially the middle character as the gun is focused on him aswell as his eyes. this also symbolizes good vs evil and villains vs heroes. the to females suggest that the conflict is about them maybe because of jelousy.
it makes the audience want to watch it because you know that there is going to be a conflict with crime between two of more characters. this appeals to males because it is crime but also women would watch it because it involves comance with the females.
this next poster involves just 2 characters who are surrounded by darkness. the use of shadows makes it earing and also the two of them close shows they are in love. the male is attractive and shows morals as he is going infront of the women to protect her which shows they are good people. the women is very attractive and obviously if the man is protecting her it means that they are after the women which shows fighting over romance.
this would appeal to a male audience becasue it also shows violence as he has a weapon meaning he is fighting for survival and for his love.
women would appeal to this because it shows romance how a man is willing to die to save his love.

Noir Conventions
There are five main categories of the conventions of noir films. these are:
- characters/actors
- costume
- location
- camera angles & shots
- lighting
to begin with, characters play a large role in noir films as the black and white make it hard to distinguish who is good and who is bad. top men either bad or good wear suits, black hats and a chunky cigar to show dominance within groups. Among characters of every type, cigarette smoking is rampant as it is an age of were ciggarettes are cool and heavily advertised.
females within noir mainly dress glamerious to make them look wealthy and very attractive to make a kind of jelous and conflict between groups of people. this usually drives the narrative to create a story. females are often dansel in distress and are usually a token to the person who saves her. it is noramlly that the female character is in love with the hero as they are usually very attractive, strong and have their own morals, while the villain usually is un-attractive and has no morals.
From above you can see that the clothing fits the characters role within the play. sometimes to distinguish the villain they are ugly and have facial scars to show past conflicts which makes them ugly. both evil and good carry weapons to show power and authority, however, the villains carry guns such as the tommy gun to show that they are carrying them not for protection but to injury or kill others. this shows that they have no morals and makes you want to fight against them.

location plays a key part of the narrative and to what type of film it is. mainly, but not always, the setting is within large cities to make the film interesting and compact with many problems. Also conventionally you would see that more crimes happen within cities than rural areas which means it shows that many conflicts could occur and many dangers problems. In the eyes of many critics, the city is presented in noir as a "labyrinth" or "maze" which makes a sense of lost or stuck. areas were you believe the crimes will occur are often in those
convetional areas such as drug dens, bars, lounges which are usually dominated by gangs. although the location is within the city, it normally trails outside of the city were bodies can be hidden or lost.

Crime, usually murder, is an element of almost all film noirs, in addition to standard-issue greed, jealousy is frequently the criminal motivation.in other common plots, there is usually a fight over the attractive female presence usually resulting in adultary affairs.
